And almost nobody explains that the rating for driving with a tent and the rating for sleeping in it are two different numbers — dynamic and static — governed by your rack and your owner’s manual, not by a blog.

RigFitment is built around a single gear database (14 pieces and growing) with honest, manufacturer-published weights, a documented load model, and 10 qualitative platform guides. One rule above all: we never fabricate a roof-load number. The checker takes your real rack rating as input; the guides show you where your real vehicle figure lives. Every score and verdict is computed from the database with documented weights, so when a spec is corrected, every answer updates with it.
